Matthew "Matt" Alban, beloved husband, father, brother, and world-class adventurer, passed away on Friday April 26, 2024. Matt lived a life filled with exploration, laughter, and love, leaving behind cherished memories for all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born to Robert Alban and LueNell Haige, Matt was raised alongside his sister Leona and brother James. His adventurous spirit was evident from a young age, and he nurtured this passion throughout his life. Matt's love for travel took him to the far corners of the globe, and he shared his experiences with the world through the family YouTube channel, inspiring countless others to embrace adventure. From the rolling hills of Ireland to the icy landscapes of Iceland, from the vibrant streets of Liverpool on the Beatles Tour to the serene shores of Hawaii, Matt's travels were as diverse as they were exhilarating. He explored the depths of Graceland, reveled in the beauty of Belize, and traversed the highways of the USA, including the iconic Route 66 from Chicago to Oklahoma. Matt even ventured into more unconventional destinations, such as the intriguing Penis Museum in Iceland. Matt's passion for adventure was matched only by his devotion to his family. He met his perfect partner in Becky, and their love story began when she was just 16. Six years later, on May 20, 1995, they exchanged vows and embarked on a journey together filled with love, laughter, and endless adventures. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Emerson and Vivienne, who were the light of Matt's life. In addition to his travels, Matt was known for his talent as an Elvis performer and his involvement with the group Trilogee. Whether he was on stage or exploring a new destination, Matt faced everything with a soul of wonder and a contagious enthusiasm that brightened the lives of those around him. Matt's passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him. He will be remembered for his zest for life, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering love for those closest to him. Though he may be gone, his spirit of adventure and his legacy of love will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his remarkable journey. Matthew leaves his partner, best friend, and wife Becky and their daughters Emerson and Vivienne; his mother Lue Nell and her husband Doug Haig; his sister Leona Eberhardt; his parents in law Melody and Jay Luthra; his sister in law Erin Grismer; his Aunt Pat Menard; as well as his dogs Gravy and Fiona and his cats Olive, Bowie, Audrey, and Monty; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and other family members, as well as more friends than can be counted to treasure Matt’s memory. He is welcomed into heaven by his brother James Hicks and his father Robert Alban. The family invites you to attend Cinco de Matteo to celebrate his life. Join us at Riverwoods Funeral Chapel on May 5th for a visitation from 10 AM until Noon and a funeral service at Noon. Hawaiian Shirts are heavily encouraged.
