Joanne Cella-Easton

March 29, 1952 - January 9, 2019

Joanne Cella-Easton of Barrington, IL, returned to her God on January 9, 2019, after suffering from Advanced Dementia. Joanne had been a resident of Sunrise of Barrington for the last year. She was 66. Joanne was born on March 29, 1952 on the South Side of Chicago to Bill and Kay (Martin) Cella. As a young person, she was an active member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish in Park Ridge, IL where she was a student through 1st- 8th grade. Joanne attended high school at Regina Dominican in Wilmette, IL. She received her bachelor’s degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee. She was always a loyal alumnus and wore her MU cap faithfully. Joanne married Bill Easton on July 5, 1980. They have one son, Sean Patrick Easton, who brought great joy to Joanne. Joanne’s took great pride in her work as an educator. She was a theology teacher at her alma mater, Regina Dominican High School as well as at St. Scholastica High School in Chicago, IL. She was a favorite teacher to many of her students and a great mentor. Joanne kept in contact with these students throughout the years. They remember Joanne as an inspiring teacher. In later years, Joanne continued teaching adults through various Bible Study classes. Joanne had a great sense of humor and a great smile. She loved to make people laugh. Whenever Joanne attended a function, she always thought it was a successful event if she “got them all laughing and enjoying themselves.” When Joanne became a resident at Sunrise of Barrington, her humor, her wit and her smile endeared her to many of the residents and staff very quickly. Joanne loved to garden. Her many flower beds in the yard were a testament to her success. She worked in the yard almost every day. Joanne also loved to read, having two or three books going at the same time. Her interests were history, theology and psychology. Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Kay (Martin) Cella and her Nephew, David Dewar. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Bill Easton, and her son Sean Patrick Easton, her brother Bill Cella (Pam Sullivan), her sister Kathy Dewar, and over 50 nieces and nephews with many of them considering Joanne their favorite and fun Aunt. Visitation Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at River Woods Funeral Chapels, 205 South River Rd., Des Plaines, Il from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A prayer service with sharing will be held at 6:30 pm and we encourage you to attend. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2019, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 1775 Grove Street, Glenview, Il 60025.
