Sr. Joseline Valdes (Florentina) was born on January 8, 1935. She was named after Saint Florentina, a venerated saint actively engaged in furthering the best interests of Christianity. Florentina also means Blooming in Latin. She joined our Creator on March 1, 2022. Beloved aunt and sister to Sr. Pauline, Roman, German, Eddie and Escolastica (all deceased). Loving daughter to the late Jose Liongson Valdes and Luisa David Valdes from Bacolor, Pampanga. Sr. Joseline was known for her giving nature, unyielding spirit, tenacity and determination. After graduating from St Scholastica’s college in 1953, she entered the convent of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (SFIC Philippine North Province) in 1957. She was high school principal at St. Joseph’s College in the 1970s. Known to be a strict disciplinarian, but fair and caring and loving to her students. She then migrated to the U.S. and joined the School Sisters of St. Francis SSSF-Milwaukee in 1976. She dedicated the last years of her life to the Fatima Prayer Community in Chicago and taking care of and nurturing her friends and loved ones. Her calm, caring demeanor and loving nature will live on forever. Rest in Peace, sweet Sr. Joseline. We love you and you will be missed. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 13 from 3:00-8:00 pm River Woods Funeral Chapel (205 South River Road, Des Plaines, Illinois). The funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 10:00 am at St Emily Catholic Church (1400 E. Central Rd, Mt. Prospect, IL 60056). Novena prayers will start on Sunday March 6, 2022, at 7 pm Chicago time until March 15, 2022.
